Catching Flies

Naja and Prishe have discovered a new game for hot summer weekends (and it's not baseball).

Naja:  I see bugs!

Naja:  Let me out!  I want to play wif them!

Prishe:  Mommy says we have to squash them, not just look at them.

Prishe:  Uh oh!  I think they know the way in!

Two Tall Tails

Hot Tamale!

One morning as Jellicle and Naja are cuddling on the sofa, a gray blur streaks by.  Jellicle and Naja look at each other.
Naja:  What that?
Jellicle:  Your sister....
Jellicle notices something hanging from Prishe's mouth as she zooms past toward the hallway.
Naja:  What wrong wif her?
Jellicle:  I don't know but I better go see.
Jellicle and Naja run into the play room and find a bewildered Prishe sitting on the carpet foaming at the mouth.   Gobs of slobber are hanging off her chin.
Naja:  Hisssssss!  Something wrong wif you!
Jellicle quickly tosses Naja in the kennel and grabs Prishe, thinking the worst.
Jellicle:  Prishe! Have you been poisoned?
Jellicle runs around the house with Prishe tucked under her arm looking for anything unusual the kitty might have eaten.  Gradually the foaming subsides and as Jellicle passes the kitchen sink for the 10th time it dawns on her.....
There in the sink is Jellicle's breakfast plate with the vaguest remnants of scrambled egg, liberally seasoned with.....Hot Red Pepper Flakes!  Clearly Prishe had licked the plate and gotten a pepper flake or two on her tongue.

Prishe:  This is embarrassing....

The Great Escape

Jellicle pours a tall glass of iced tea and sinks into the recliner.  Barely a few minutes have passed, when she hears the plaintive mews of a cat in distress.   The sound seems to be coming from directly beneath Jellicle.  Alarmed, she sits up.
Jellicle:  Naja? Prishe?  Kitty, Kitty where are you?
Still the cry seems to be coming from underneath the chair.  Is a cat trapped underneath the recliner, Jellicle wonders?  Did someone's tail get pinched when she leaned back.
Jellicle jumps up and looks under the chair but it is too dark to see.  She lifts the chair up but only dust bunnies live under there.
On her hands and knees now, Jellicle calls to the kittens.  The sound is right beside her ear.  Jellicle looks around and catches sight of a sad little face looking up at her through the air vent in the floor.   Yanking the cover off, Jellicle reaches in and lifts out a cobweb festooned Naja.
Where is Prishe?
Quickly Jellicle runs into the play room to find Prishe hunched over the air vent looking for her sister.  Somehow the tricksters have managed to pull the vent cover up enough to let Naja get in the air duct but then it had fallen back in place so Prishe is unable to follow her.

Naja:  I didn't like it!

Could red pepper flakes be the answer to keeping kittens off of counter tops?  Jellicle doubts it, the very next day she found an SOS pad in the living room floor with a chunk bitten out of it.  Now, which one has steel wool in their tummy?

But she does have a solution for keeping cats out of the duct work......

Yes, Bricks.  Two of them.

Naja:  Now I can't see what down there!

Prishe:  Hey Naja, these thing were holding the carpet down behind the door.  Now we can scratch it all up in the corner.

The Reverse Houdini

After 10 grueling days of trying to keep Naja and Prishe confined and separated, they finally get their stitches out.  The vet gives the thumbs up to turn them loose! Imagine Jellicle's suprise when she wakes up one morning and finds.......

....Prishe in the closet zipped up inside her car carrier......

.....pitching a fit because she can't get out!

How did she get in there?

More importantly how did she zip it back up!

If Naja did it, she isn't talking.....

Seriously, Jellicle cannot make this stuff up!
