The Wizard's Cat

Long before the days of Harry Potter, a little girl had a magic cape.  Made of luxurious blue-black velvet and studded with gold velvet stars, it had the power to transform the wearer into fairy tale beings: a gypsy and fortune teller, a queen and maker of poison apples, a sleeping princess, and a wizard mouse to name just a few.

Eventually the little girl grew up and the magic cape went to live with some other little girls.  It was played with until the edges frayed and washed until the black velvet faded to midnight blue although the stars glimmered as brightly as ever.  Finally those little girls grew up too.

But still the cape had some magic left in the seams and it flew back to the grown up girl who first owned it.  As soon as it came into her house, it was immediately claimed by a furry little girl.

I think dis is my color!

Go away Naja, dis is mine!

Be afraid, be very afraid!
